Empowering Iraqi Americans of all ages to grow professionally, build careers, and launch successful businesses.

Iraqi Americans in Austin bring tremendous entrepreneurial spirit and professional talent. Yet many face barriers such as limited access to business training, unfamiliarity with U.S. systems, language challenges, and the absence of culturally informed mentorship networks. This program equips community members—youth, adults, and aspiring entrepreneurs—with the skills needed to thrive in careers, advance professionally, and launch or expand small businesses.

1. Career Skills Workshops (All Ages)

Covering:

  • Résumés and cover letters.
  • Job search strategies and networking.
  • Interview preparation and workplace communication.
  • Leadership development, conflict resolution, and public speaking.
  • Digital literacy and essential tech skills.

2. Career Pathway Exploration

Tailored for different age groups:

  • Youth: exploring majors, career interests, and internships.
  • Early-career professionals: navigating workplace expectations and promotions.
  • Mid-career adults: career transitions and re-skilling.
  • Newcomers: understanding the U.S. workforce and credential evaluation.

3. Mentorship & Professional Networking

  • Pairing students and adults with Iraqi American professionals in various fields.
  • Monthly networking circles, guest speakers, and industry panels.
  • Professional peer groups for women, newcomers, and career-switchers.

4. Small Business Development Program 

Supporting aspiring and current Iraqi American entrepreneurs in building strong, sustainable businesses.

Small Business Workshops

Culturally tailored training covering:

  • How to start a business in Texas (licenses, permits, LLC/sole proprietorship setup).
  • Business planning and developing a strong business model.
  • Branding, marketing, and social media strategies.
  • Financial literacy: budgeting, taxes, bookkeeping, and separating business/personal finances.
  • Understanding state and local regulations for food, retail, home-based, or service businesses.
  • How to hire and manage staff.
  • Workshops offered in English and Arabic.

Entrepreneurship Coaching & Technical Assistance

One-on-one support for:

  • Business plan development.
  • Market research and identifying target customers.
  • Creating pricing strategies and service menus.
  • Setting up a business bank account and managing cash flow.
  • Building websites, social media pages, and marketing materials.
  • Scaling existing businesses and expanding services.

Access to Capital Guidance
